The largest prize pool in South African franchise cricket history is up for grabs.
On Tuesday, December 20: With a substantial amount of prize money up for grabs this summer, the inaugural Betway SA20 is poised to break down barriers in every element of South African cricket.
The R70 million overall prize pool, which is the largest in South African franchise cricket history, highlights SA20’s long-term dedication to supporting South African cricket and its players.
The SA20 is expected to be an intense competition that combines sport and entertainment on a level that hasn’t been seen in the South African sporting scene. It is expected to draw a wider range of South Africa’s varied society in addition to cricket enthusiasts.
“We have worked hard to create a gratifying and exceptional incentive in the first season of Betway SA20,” Betway SA20 League Commissioner Graeme Smith remarked. This is a first for South African cricket; we’ve never had this kind of competitive incentive in domestic play, and it’s another sign of SA20’s intentions to advance the sport in the country.
Six teams, each supported by an Indian Premier League franchise, will compete against one another starting on January 10 at Newlands in Cape Town and continuing until the first final on February 11 at the Wanderers in Johannesburg.
MI The tournament’s inaugural encounter between Cape Town and Paarl Royals will feature Rashid Khan, the top bowler for Afghanistan, Jos Buttler, the captain of England who won the T20 World Cup, Kagiso Rabada, and David Miller, who blazed the stadiums in the 2022 IPL.
Fans are seizing the chance to witness the first-ever Betway SA20 Champions being crowned by purchasing tickets for the Final and Semi-Finals before they run out. There are tickets available for all 33 games at the six stadiums as well as online through the Ticketpros website.
