The Pretoria Capitals defeated Sunrisers Eastern Cape by 37 runs thanks in large part to Will Jacks’ easygoing 46-ball 92 at Centurion. In their allotted 20 overs, Eastern Cape made 179 for 7 in an effort to chase down 217.
In order to lay the groundwork for a huge total, Jacks smashed up to seven boundaries and eight sixes. He also formed an alliance of 111 with Theunis de Bruyn (23 balls, 42) for the third wicket. Marco Jansen and Sisanda Magala swiftly defeated Jacks and De Bruyn, respectively. The side then passed the 200-run threshold thanks to contributions from Shane Dadswell and Jimmy Neesham.
Ottniel Baartman and Magala each split a few scalps for the Eastern Cape. Jordan Cox and Saral Erwee were lost early by Eastern Cape while pursuing a sizable target. At No. 4, Aiden Markram put together a 29-ball 46 but didn’t receive much help from the other batsmen. In fact, JJ Smuts was the only other hitter among Eastern Cape’s top seven to score more than 20 runs (28 runs) for the team.
Lower in the order, Brydon Carse and Marco Jansen quickly put together an unbroken partnership of 60 runs in just under five overs, but by that point, Eastern Cape’s chances of winning the match had all but vanished. Adil Rashid and Wayne Parnell each claimed a few wickets for the Capitals.
