Presentation:
Player of the Match: David Miller(C)(PR) It was somewhat difficult. To summarise the wind, I tried. Trying to hit in the spin’s direction was much simpler. a little slow. We bowled quite well and exerted pressure on them. In the middle overs, they bowled effectively. Good victory for us; lads gave outstanding performance. To have a guy of his caliber—Buttler—who has travelled the globe and serves as the foundation up front. He once again batted brilliantly. This contest is extremely open. With truly good teams, it’s difficult. Long may it continue; the fans have been terrific; this is a fantastic event.
Aiden Markram(SEC): happy with the guys’ fighting spirit. We lacked a couple runs. At the end of the day, good game. It’s been a busy competition, so the lads deserve some downtime. Regrouping is important before our upcoming game. This crowd has been amazing. They have supported us heavily; they’ve been like our 12th player. The exposure for the local players is fantastic. Being in the company of legends is good for them.
“The home audience enjoyed the fight, even though the outcome wasn’t what they had hoped for. With all five of their bowlers taking at least one wicket, the Royals did a fantastic job of limiting the hosts to a score that was below par. In response, Buttler’s blitz helped Paarl Royals win the powerplay. Roelof van der Merwe bowled a determined spell, helping the Sunrisers rally. In his final over, he claimed Buttler, the half-centurion, as his prized scalp. At 91/5 in the 15th over, Smutts and Paarl were in serious trouble thanks to their excellent bowling. As a result of the Sunrisers’ obstruction of the run flow, 30 runs were required off of three overs. The hosts would have thought they had a good chance of holding it, but Miller, the captain, had other plans. He humiliated Magala and hit three sixes in four deliveries. There was no turning back for Eastern Cape after the 18th over, which produced 25 runs. Miller appropriately scored the winning runs as the Royals easily crossed the finish line with seven outs”.
