Tickets start at R50, and there are tailored specials for fans before the premiere performance.
The tone is set for the impending boom of cricket and entertainment by music stars.
Monday, November 14: Spectacularly, ticket sales for the SA20’s season of cricket and amusement began on Monday in Johannesburg.
For the media and special guests in the audience, Sho Madjozi, Mi Casa, and DJ Timo ODV, along with SA20 Commissioner Graeme Smith, showcased how cricket and entertainment will intersect to produce a thrilling first SA20 League.
For tickets costing between R50 and R200, spectators can watch young, dynamic players like Dewald Brevis, Tristan Stubbs, and Donovan Ferreira compete against seasoned veterans like Jos Buttler, captain of the team that won the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, Faf du Plessis, and Kagiso Rabada. Children under the age of six can enter for free, and scholars and retirees are entitled to a 30% discount.
From 10 January, when MI Cape Town and Paarl Royals play in the opening local derby match at Newlands, SA20 will offer nonstop “containment,” with the final match of the 33-game tournament scheduled for 11 February at Johannesburg’s Wanderers Stadium.
When she stopped acclaimed comedian Joey Rasdien and the events to entertain everyone with a boisterous music show, Madjozi turned a typical news conference on its head.
The six new SA20 franchises were unveiled to the public, and to add to the excitement, the local South African band MiCasa and a few DJs were there.
I’m overjoyed to be here. I love cricket very much, and the opportunity to combine it with my music and major franchise brands is what makes me so enthusiastic about SA20. I’m anticipating the commencement of the contests, remarked Madjozi.
All 33 games will only be broadcast live on SuperSport in Sub-Saharan Africa and Viacom18 Sports, India’s newest sports network, to the country’s ardent and cricket-loving audience.
The presence of several newly topped ICC Men’s T20 World Cup winners, such as Jos Buttler, Liam Livingstone, Adil Rashid, Sam Curran, Phil Salt, and Harry Brooks, as well as reliability and marketable cricket from the participating world-class players, added Smith, “and we are set for exploding entertainment.”
Every day there will be games played, including eight doubleheaders spread out around the nation, for each of the six SA20 franchises, with each team having five home and five away matches.
